A Word From Rev

President and CEO Rev. Bill Roscoe shares why Mission: Light Our Valley is close to his heart and why light and hope are so important right now.

How Your Meals Change Lives

Over the past 6 decades, Boise Rescue Mission Ministries has continued to refine and improve how we engage with people in Boise and Nampa who are struggling with homelessness, poverty, and addiction. Our goal is always to provide genuine and lasting help with love and kindness.

Meals

Addiction Recovery

Addiction Recovery

Christ-centered support and tools help people overcome addiction and lead to a new way of living.

Safe Shelter

Safe Shelter

A safe place to sleep gives people a place to begin healing.

Veteran Services

Veteran Services

After serving our country, many veterans have trouble acclimating to civilian life. Focusing on taking care of more than just physical needs helps restore the lives of chronically homeless veterans across the Treasure Valley.

A Stable Job

A Stable Job

Job skills, résumé training, and interview practice helps people put their best foot forward to get the right job so they can save up for an apartment or house.

Learn About Jesus

Learn About Jesus

The best addiction recovery program, the best job-training classes, and the most experienced staff means nothing if it's not centered in God and His Son. Guests learn about Jesus, His love for them, and how He is working in their lives.

Hope

Hope

Having a good, hot meal in our dining room shows someone that they can stop focusing on survival and instead have hope that they can thrive tomorrow.

Transitional Housing

Transitional Housing

Transitional housing helps previously homeless individuals begin to live independently while still having support as they transition into a self-supported life.

Life Skills

Life Skills

Classes focused on life skills like budgeting and parenting give men and women the tools they need to be successful long term as they start a new life.

Offering meals continues to be the most effective way to begin a process of transformation. Men, women, and children experiencing homelessness successfully create lasting change in their lives here at the Rescue Mission. The meals we serve are never a “hand out,” but always offer love, relationship, and genuine help. Last year, the Rescue Mission helped over 400 people in the Treasure Valley transition from homelessness to independence. The meals your gift will provide are often the beginning point.

Why it Works

Meals are only the beginning of a path to change. Byron’s story is a great example of how hurting people come for food and shelter, but find the help they need to transform their lives. “Homeless to Independence” often begins with a meal.

Together we can make a difference in the Treasure Valley.

Each $2.09 you give provides a hot meal served with kindness that can open the door to life-changing relationships and real, lasting help.

How Meals Change Lives

Edward desperately prayed for hope and a second chance. “I was getting in trouble too many times. I was too old. I was messing with drugs and alcohol. I wanted to change my life. I’m a grandfather.”

The drugs and alcohol had led Edward to the hopelessness of a jail cell.  Sitting on that jail bunk, Edward came to face to face with the darkness of his life.

Edward’s story is just one of the many stories of people who desperately need to find light and hope in desperate times.

It’s not just people drowning in their addictions that are struggling in darkness. Working families who experience rent increases or job disruptions can find themselves suddenly homeless. Elderly citizens can’t make ends meet with the rising cost of living. The problems are growing with fewer and fewer options for people in need to get help.

Then everything spun out of control. He ended up in trouble with the law and and in jail.

That’s why I pray you will consider giving a gift today as we began our annual Mission: Light Our Valley campaign.

Your gift to provide $2.09 meals can be a new beginning. Your compassionate gift will offer hope and light to desperate people right here in the Treasure Valley. Edward remembers what it’s like to go without food. He said, “I was hoping people would come by with food, you know…but knowing that wasn’t going to happen.”

Together, we can shine the light. We can be a beacon to help people out of darkness and hopelessness. Here at the Rescue Mission, we do our best to help people get back on their feet and move from homelessness to independence. To help people recover from addictions and sinful behaviors.

Lives are changed here at the Rescue Mission, and it almost always starts with a meal. Just like the meals you can provide for $2.09 today!
