The statewide online campaign, Idaho Gives, starts on April 29th and goes through May 2nd! This is a great opportunity for the community to get involved and help raise money for Boise Rescue Mission Ministries. On April 29th, head over to the Mission’s Idaho Gives profile to make a difference in the life of someone in desperate need. This year the Mission is raising money for those who are elderly and homeless like Laura! 

Laura is a 74-year-old woman, twice widowed, who served in the Army as a nurse. She never dreamed of becoming homeless. Suddenly, due to a personal crisis, she was left homeless within 24 hours!

“I had only the clothes on my back, my wallet, and my cell phone. I was totally alone with nowhere to go, no way to get there, and no one to call. I was devastated and thought it was the end of my life.” 

Homelessness can happen to anyone. Gifts through Idaho Gives are included in our May Match, meaning you can donate to give twice as many elderly people to safe emergency shelters. (Funds matched up to $86,000)

“I arrived at City Light in the dark, cold, and wet from the rain. I felt safe for the first time in over 24 hours. Everyone that night was nice, and they gave me clothes, shoes, and a warm bed to sleep in. I was relieved but still so scared and uncertain about how I was going to survive as a homeless person.”

Imagine the feelings of fear and vulnerability of an elderly person without a home or a family!

“There are more and more elderly out on the streets.” Laura says, “We are worth helping.”

Homelessness can happen to anyone. Donors like you make it possible for Laura and others like her to have a safe place to go when life doesn’t go as planned.
